I am praying this morning. There was an incident yesterday that caused me great spiritual unrest and it was foremost in my prayer. I was frustrated and tired yesterday after working hard on the Women’s Conference when a test of my character manifested. I spoke rudely and hurtfully because I had failed to meet an expectation. In my selfishness and arrogance, I had performed a work that I felt was sufficient and a “good (worthy of praise)” work. It was not. In fact, it missed the mark by not being uniform. There were 2 types of chairs rather than 1. Even though they were the same color, they were not the same shape. The test and my praying took me to a new place of understanding. I have been so focused on Love as a preeminent piece of my being, (of every Christian’s being), that I had missed the overarching character of Holiness that contains it. Holiness is the target of being and contained in that which is Love, along with many other character traits of being (including CONVERSATION). “Be ye Holy as I am Holy”.
1 Peter 1:15-16 (KJV)
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
What I displayed was not Holy. In fact, I was unloving and hurtful with my words, body language and the anger that was fueling it all because my ego/pride and self was not receiving praise.
Apologies are due. Please forgive me Father and grant me opportunity to submit myself to Your Will and properly display Your Holy Spirit. It is against You that I have sinned. Create in me a clean heart O Lord, renew a right (and Holy) Spirit within me.
Psalm 41:4 (KJV)
I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.
Psalm 51:4 (KJV)
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.
Psalms 51:10-12 (KJV) 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me [with thy] free spirit.
What is hidden in my heart? Is it not what has been revealed? My words testify of the evil and unholiness that lurks within! My help is from the Lord and in Him only is my deliverance. Your Word only, The Word made flesh and dwelling within me. That alone is able to save. Jesus. Not my will, but Thine be done. I decrease so that You may increase.
Psalm 119:11 (KJV)
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Romans 12:2 (KJV)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
