Gravity: Heaven and Hell Thoughts

Interesting thought….. scientists believe that the core of this earth is a fiery molten mass. The fact that all things fall toward that center when unaided by any opposing power could be used as an allegory of the nature of humanity when infused and indoctrinated with the belief of God in His Heavenly realm “above” and satan in his fiery abode “below”.

Science has its gravitational explanations which I do not fully understand nor am inclined to delve into. I am assured that “what goes up, must come down”. But no reckoning of heaven or hell are here.

Scripture colors gravity differently for us. The implication of the nature of gravity is accepted and implied throughout scripture. But since the entirety of scripture points to realms of seen and unseen, physical and spiritual, my choice is to look into these things with a spiritual bias.

Jesus not only descended from heaven to earth (John 3 & 6), but also descended further down to hell (Eph 4:9). Then ascending from hell (Eph 4:10) and finally back to Heaven (John 3:13, Acts 1:11).

Lucifer “fell” from Heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15).

So the tension and outcome of intention is manifest in the ongoing history of humanity as it leans toward its belief/not belief in God and the more focused belief in the natural fallen nature of humanity turned away from God that needs a Savior that is lovingly supplied by that very God Who is Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

All said…. Humanity in its physicality, unaided by any opposing power, is subject to gravity. In short, without lift is forever grounded and without sustaining lift, always falls back to its original ground. Spiritually, humanity does not have the sustaining lift to get itself “up” and is destined to be “grounded” and forever in a falling state. We, all of natural humanity, need a supernatural lift. Jesus Christ is that lift that severs the gravitational pull of independence and rejoins humanity with God in dependence on the work of Christ as dictated by the Holy and Perfect Love of God in His Triune Wholeness.
